Aoki Lee Simmons gets into Harvard at 16

One of the proudest moments of any parent’s life is when they get to see a college acceptance letter fill their child with hope for a better future.

Russell and Kimora Lee Simmons’ daughter, Aoki, gets to experience that at sixteen years old.

“Thank God you got in on your own honey cause you can’t row”, Kimora Lee was quoted saying to her daughter, taking a jab at Full House actress Lori Loughlin who was arrested for allegedly trying to bribe her two daughters’ way into college.

“She made it on her own academic merit,” Simmons wrote on Instagram.

Aoki announced her accomplishment in a tearful Instagram video, sitting next to her stepfather Tim Leissner as Kimora Lee Simmons squealed in excitement.

“She’s on her way to #Harvard!! We are sooo super proud of YOU!! Such hard work and only 16,” Kimora wrote on Instagram. “You did it! It took years of super dedication and lots of tears! But HERE YOU ARE!!! GO GIRL!!! Enjoy the journey! We are excited to see the great things you will do! Sorry I’m one of those SUPERLOUD MAMAS! She also got into Dartmouth, Vassar, Barnard etc!”

Recently, some celebrities rejoicing in their children’s collegiate success went south on social media, with both Rob Lowe and Dr. Dre receiving backlash.  Although Aoki seems academically gifted, it’s important to note that children of wealthy parents can afford private tutors and test preps that other students don’t have access to.

Still, the Simmons family can expect a bright future for their sixteen-year-old undergraduate.
