Happy Valentine’s Day! The romantic holiday once reserved for couples, in recent years has began to recognize it is also a time for single people to love themselves as well. Self-love isn’t just a hashtag we see on social media, but it is a necessary action for one to take care of themselves for optimal health and well-being. Listed are three ways to love yourself on Valentine’s Day.
I love you! With emphasis on the first word. Some may say they don’t hear it said often, but if you stop to think, when is the last time you said them to yourself? Saying it out loud you get used to how it sounds and it can be a great way to start your day.
Alone time is a luxury we should take up often. It is well moments doing the things we love. Remember the hobby you enjoyed? What about catching up on the sleep we didn’t think we needed until waking up from a long and restful nap. Everything from watching your favorite Netflix movies to cooking yourself a fantastic meal, or finally reading a favorite book to taking a relaxing bath, alone time is one of the best ways to love yourself all year long and not just on Valentine’s Day.
Laughter is meant to make us feel good, so why not do so often. Self-love is finding ways where we don’t take life or ourselves too seriously. When is the last time you laughed out loud whether it was remembering what someone said or watching something on television. And the ability to laugh at yourself is the best because it allows you to take a break away from anything that brings on stress. Make it a point to laugh at some point in your day.
